Crafti Bookie and Redbridge Flyer are both to be offered at
DBS Horses In Training Sales 18th&19th May 2010

Both of the above horses have been accepted as wild card entries to the Doncaster HIT Sale. Redbridge Flyer was very unlucky not to have won on his only 2 starts. On his debut he was only beaten a neck by Time For Spring (who was since sold for £25,000 at Brightwells in April. Four of the horses in this race have since went on to win. He then ran in a competitive 6yo Maiden, where he made all the running. He was just headed by Katies Prince (whom he had beaten on his previous race on the run in at Bennetsbridge)  at the 2nd last when his rider was unseated.

Crafi Bookie a 4yo Gelding by Winged Love, a nice individual who will only improve with time. He has 4 runs runs to date. His first run was at the very competitive track of Lismore with 15runners, he finished a distance 2nd to Sorming Gale. Only for a faller at the last fence where he was brought to a standstill, he was sure to have been closer. We ran him a week later at Bennetsbridge where he finished 4th to Prince Among Kings, In our mind he should have been 2nd and we possibly ran him a bit to quickly, only being a 4 yo.
He then went to Lisronagh 1/5/10 where he un-seated his rider at the first fence. As we had him entered and he was fit and well we took him to Dawstown on 3/5/10 - He finished a good 2nd only beaten by 8 Lengths.

No News is good news...

I have not updated this since easter! It's not that we are not doing anything... actually the opposite! We had a busy weekend just gone with racing and off course much to Michael's delight the show season has started again!.
We headed to Lisronagh on Saturday with Crafti Bookie and Seeofemotion for the 4 year old race. The race was divided thankfully, and had one in each divide. Crafti was up first, and un-seated at the first fence!!!! No harm done though. Seeofemotion was making his first race debut, he jumped great and was pulled up 2 fences from home. Both horse came home safe and well!
On Sunday I headed to Thomastown show for a pre- Balmoral outing... Jay was going great until we had to gallop and bucked about 4 times and, still not too sure how I managed to stay on! Any way we finished 2nd!
Monday morning we had planned to let Crafty Bookie and Seeofemotion to the field! Instead we decided to head to Dawstown P2P in Cork with Crafty as we had him double entered and he was in fighting form... Eleven runners went to post with some very fancied horses in the race. Crafty ran a great race to finish 2nd, he is home safe and sound and may head to the Horses in Training Sale in Doncaster later this month!
We have 5 store horses heading to Doncaster 26-27th May 2010, pictures and videos of these will be available shortly, click on the lot number to view pedigrees:

A good week for former Redbridge horses.

In the past week we have watched 3 former horses from Redbridge Stables winning. Jimbatai won by 8L at Chepstow on Easter Monday, for trainer Tim Vaughan. On the same day Wari Mist put in a brave performance at Loughanmore point-to-point under Ben Crawford to win by 8L. Wari Mist who was only sold recently, did not make his new owners wait long too enter the winners enclosure. An last by no means least - The Speedy Man who put in a brave performance to win by just a head for his trainer Dennis Murphy at Monksgrange Point-to-point on 28th March.

We had 2 runners at Bennetsbridge - Crafti Bookie & Battle Bridge. Crafti Bookie ran a great race to finsh 4th, although in our mind he deserved to be 2nd. He is having a break now after racing twice in one week, and may run again before the end of the season. Battle Bridge was pulled up after approx 2 miles, he was never in contention in the race. He has now been sold to Paul Swaffield, who will be giving him a well deserved break and we wish him the very best of luck with him.

We headed to Fairyhouse on Easter Monday to see our good old faithful mare Tally Em Up finish 2nd in the Avon Ri EBF Mares Steeplechase. Beaten 8L by the 10lb lighter Shuil Aris! She also added another 5,400 to her ever climbing pot!

A winner and a 2nd with two 1st time out 4 Year Olds

First up for the weekend was Maralin in Co Down with Jack Danoli. Some of his owners had traveled to the North from Co Meath to see him run! There were 6 runners declared for the 4yo maiden. We had though that the ground might be a little bit quick for him... But Jack proved us wrong. Although there were some early casualties in the race, and after 3 fences we were only left with 3 runners. Jack put in an excellent display of jumping - like he had been doing it all his life. His only mistake was at the last, but from a great ride from Gary Murphy he went on to win by 1 1/2L beating the more experienced horse Bravo Riquet and Derek O'Connor. We hope his owners enjoyed there win and hope there will be plenty more days in 1st spot!

On Sunday we had a slightly shorter trip to Lismore In West Waterford with Crafti Bookie in the 4yo Maiden. As were in the parade ring waiting for our Jockey Gary Murphy to appear, we were given plenty of time to access the other 14 4yo's in the race, for what was looking to be a very competitive race! Basil (Crafti Bookie) settled well in a about 5th place and jumped well throughout. A faller at the last brought him to a complete standstill. He finished 2nd beaten a distance - due to the final fence faller. He was never a danger to the winning horse, but was sure to have finished much closer... Also note that this was the fastest race of the day!

Both horses have came out of there races fine, and as usual had a well earned trip to the beach this morning. See Photographs from the weekend below:

Weekend Racing Results

We had a packed weekend of racing this weekend. First off was Sugar Sensation in Kirkistown P2P. We travelled 6 hours to get there, being one of the first to arrive.. Thankfully we were in the first race, although we were slightly disappointed to see only 4 runners going to post. Two of which had the experience of previous runs and form. Sugar Sensation finished a comfortable 3rd, he jumped well and was a nice introduction for his first run! So cooled off and back on-board we made the journey back home for the following days Point-to-pointing.

On Sunday we had Battlebridge and Redbridge Flyer running at our local P2P at Lingstown. First up was Battlebridge in the 5yo Maiden. He finished 5th only 8L off the winner. He just found the ground a little bit too quick, but he jumped well and galloped to the line.
Redbridge Flyer was in the 6yo Maiden. We had high hopes for him from his previous run. He set off in front and drew clear of the rest of the field, he jumped great - other than over-jumping the 3rd last. He was headed just before the last - and unseated his rider after landing... THAT'S RACING!

Bennetsbridge P2P results.

We had our first 2 runners at the weekend with Battlebridge & Redbridge Flyer at Bennetsbridge.
First up was Battlebridge in the 5yo geldings maiden in a 13 runner field. Battlebridge raced very keen in the early stages of the race, pulling and jumping his way to the front of the field. With just under a circuit raced and leading the field - he opted to follow the loose horses by the way of the trucks!!! Gary Murphy did well to get him steered back onto the course before the next fence. Having lost lots of ground and now being in last position, our hopes were looking poor! He finished 4th only beaten 4 lengths - the moral of this story.... WHAT IF!!!

Next up was Redbridge Flyer (Freddie) - He made nearly all of the running of an 18 runner race. He did make a couple of jumping errors, but then again this was only his first outing. Turning into the second last fence, he looked like he was going to be a comfortable 3rd - he got a great jump at the last and put himself right back in contention. We had a nervous wait for the photo finish result  - It was not to be! We finished 2nd beaten by a neck.
It was lovely to meet Ger Noonan and his family at the Point-to-Point, who bred Redbridge Flyer, and had come to see him on his first outing.
Both horses have come out of there races well and had a well deserved trip to the beach to-day.

Weather playing havoc again!

We are suffering a little bit from the frosty weather hear at the minute, but thankfully - unlike some we have managed to avoid the snow!
We were due to have our first Point-to-Point runners of 2010 on Sunday at Bennetsbridge- with Battle Bridge & Redbridge Flyer. Unfortunately the racing was postponed until this Saturday.

Tally Em Up was due to run at Naas, but this was also cancelled due to snow.

On a more positive note  - I received a call yesterday afternoon, from none other than Mr Paul Swaffield. Having run Sandyzar (purchased from Redbridge Stables in Dec 09) in  his 1st point-to-point since his purchase - only to be beaten by just 4 lengths! Congratulations to Paul and his team - We will be watching this space - very closely! I am sure there is plenty more good days to come! WELL DONE - Michael & Leigh!

Tally Em Up Strikes AGAIN!

No sooner have we recovered from Tally Em Up winning the Beamish Stout Phil Sweeney Memorial S´ch (Grade 3) last week at Thurles, she has come out to win again in even better style that the week previous.
She was a comfortable winner of the Coolmore NH Sires EBF Mares Nov. S´chase (Grade 3) under  Davy Russell today. Unfortunately we were unable to attend Thurles to-day to see Tally win, but were certainly cheering her loudly from home (very loudly). Congratulations to Niamh and Philip, and last but by no means least Rosie (who looks after Tally at Fairwood Stables)  and Davy Russell.
